From the Mountains to Manhattan
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. I spent my childhood mountain biking, hiking in the Cascade mountains and fishing with my grandfather and uncle in rural eastern Oregon. A few times a year I spent time with my Dad exploring the heart of New York City — Manhattan.
Work & Approach To Life
I’ve worked ever since I can remember, from landscaping and manual labor to my first official job as a grocery store box boy the minute I turned 14. Concrete construction, plastics fabrication, night security guard, retail — "hard" work never scared me; I genuinely love it. It provided me an opportunity to show my dogged persistence, how hard I work, and how quickly I learn.
Early life lessons from hard work, and the great outdoors, combined with exposure and time spent in such drastically different parts of the country form the foundation of my attitude towards work, people, and life.
I grew up the son of a single mother. It was a good childhood; we just didn't have a lot. I've fought hard for everything I've achieved in life — there is nothing that can quench that fire — it is one of the reasons I can carve out success where others have failed.
Actions speak louder than words - and these values are a core part of how I live, lead, manage and work.
The time is always right to do what is right. – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear. – Mark Twain
When obstacles arise, you change your direction to reach your goal, you do not change your decision to get there. – Zig Ziglar
Passion, though a bad regulator, is a powerful spring. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I'm a life-long student. I'm driven and excited by the fact that I will always have more to learn and grow. Some of my greatest teachers have been my wonderful wife, two great kids, a few incredible mentors and the people I've led.
Being a mentor and leader, I often find that I'm learning as much (often more) than the people I'm leading. It is one of my favorite parts of leadership.
